Hiking in the local area

My first hikes in Iceland were in the local area around Mosfellsbær in the capital region of Reykjavik, where part of the family lives.

Safe and comfortable, close to civilization. And yet the harsh nature can still be felt.

Úlfarsfell

Úlfarsfell is located by Mosfellsbær in the capital area of Reykjavik. The mountain is 296 meters high. It is not very well known, but there will definitely be encounters with locals on the way up or down. There are several marked routes to the top.

The view from the top is impressive – over the town, Esja to the north and Faxaflói Bay to the west. In completely clear weather it is even possible to see all the way to Snæfellsnes, the ice cap on Snæfellsjökull.

At the top there is a terrace with an overview map of all the surrounding mountains.

Grímannsfell

Grímannsfell is located by Mosfellsbær in the Reykjavik metropolitan area. The mountain is      meters high. .
